Project Manager

Job Project Manager

This position is open in the RegMed XB Office, which has the mission to support the partners of RegMed XB to create more of an impact from the science. Together we want to develop the emerging regenerative medicine industry to create jobs and solutions for patients.

This is a one-year position to start with, aiming to extend for 4-5 years. Full-time basis can be discussed (0.8-1.0 fte).

Company profile

About the institute

RegMed XB (“regenerative medicine crossing borders”) was founded in 2017 as an internationally-leading virtual institute of Dutch and Belgian public (universities and governments) and private (health foundations and companies) partners that will work together to develop regenerative medicine solutions to health challenges. RegMed XB believes that when researchers and entrepreneurs work side by side, they stand the best chance to bring the most impact to patients and society at large.

Now, the programme is in its "Phase 1" stage and they are looking to expand in the next year. In Phase 1, there are three scientific objectives: to cure type 1 diabetes, to develop a bioengineered kidney, and to build a biological joint replacement. Beyond its scientific objectives, RegMed XB is also active in public-private partnerships to integrate research and valorization to shorten time-to-patient and translate research results into new businesses.

The partners in RegMed XB are health foundations, universities, regional governments, and companies. In Phase 1, four health foundations (Nierstichting, Diabetes Fonds, Diabetes Onderzoek Nederland, and Reumafonds) join to define the research objectives and co-govern the project to keep a focus on the end-goals that improve patients' lives. Scientists from four universities (Leiden University, Utrecht University, Eindhoven University of Technology, and Maastricht University) and their respective university medical centres join to develop their proven technology and expertise that can be applied to challenges set by the health foundations. Companies join to share expertise and facilities, provide materials and personnel, and work as valorization instruments. And finally, four regions (Leiden, Utrecht, Noord-Brabant, and Limburg) join to support both the research and its valorization, thereby creating new jobs and businesses. RegMed XB is currently expanding its network to include partners from Flanders along with additional health foundations and companies. The partners are chosen because they punch above their weight in excellent science and they have a solid infrastructure for translation with university medical centers. They also possess the multidisciplinary knowledge that is required for regenerative medicine.
