Business Models II: Diagnostics company

VU Amsterdam, 27 June 2017 - 16:00 hours

Abstract

Multiplicom develops, manufactures and sells molecular diagnostic test kits that are used by genetics and pathology labs to amplify human genes of interest prior to high throughput DNA sequencing and followed by data analysis. As starting material we can use any source of DNA from saliva all the way to formalin fixed paraffin embedded tumor tissue.
We apply the “razor blade” model, selling CE-IVD approved reagent boxes that allow identification of DNA sequences that are associated with health and disease. This information can be used to prescribe the best possible therapy for the patient and improve quality of life without increasing the cost to health care.
