Business Development

The life sciences sector includes many companies; from big pharma and biotech to service companies and financials. Within this ecosystem all companies have their own role and collaborate a lot. Tim will elaborate on this life science landscape and zoom in on the different types of companies and business development roles that are present. He will explain what a business development job entails, how this differs between the various types of companies and how such role can be found or even created.

Tim joined AM-Pharma in 2012 and has since been responsible for Business Development. In 2015 he co-led the $600M option-to-acquisition deal between Pfizer and AM-Pharma. Ever since he also holds responsibility for alliance management between the two companies. Prior to AM-Pharma, Tim was a senior associate at Aescap Venture where he was instrumental in the financing and support of various portfolio companies including Avantium-the Netherlands, Biocartis-Switzerland, i-Optics-the Netherlands, Ethical Oncology Sciences (now Clovis)-Italy, and to-BBB-the Netherlands.

In 2016, he co-founded Primer BioBusiness Recruitment, a recruitment company focusing on commercial roles in the life sciences. Tim gained both a Science and Innovation Masters and a Drug Innovation Masters with honors from Utrecht University. He is an executive MBA candidate at IMD in Switzerland.
