About Cees de Jong

Cees de Jong has worked as President and CEO for Chr. Hansen from early 2013 till June 2018. Chr. Hansen is a global bioscience company with leadership positions in several attractive niche markets for cultures for the dairy, meat, wine, human health, animal health and crop protection industries, and dairy enzymes and natural colors for the food & beverage industry.

During his tenure at Chr. Hansen, the market capitalization of the company increased from EUR 3.3 billion to well over EUR 10 billion, making Chr. Hansen one the most successful companies in Denmark. Early 2018 Chr. Hansen was named one of the 100 most sustainable companies in the world.
In addition, in 2016/17, Mr. de Jong was listed as the 6th best CEO in Denmark by, and 4th on the Extel Investor Relations List of Food Manufacturers CEO’s (only behind the CEO’s of Nestle, Danone and the Kerry Group).

Prior to joining Chr. Hansen, Mr. de Jong held various managerial roles and board positions within the biopharmaceutical and food industry. His professional career started in 1989 with Gist-Brocades (NL) where he held different positions including Managing Director for the Industrial Pharmaceutical division. Following Gist-Brocades’ acquisition by DSM in 1998, he was appointed President of the Anti-Infectives division of DSM.
